Assessment within Evisense
Assessment Content
If your setting is already using Connecting Steps, all the assessment content in Connecting Steps will be accessible in Evisense. You can link evidence and other post types to the skills in Connecting Steps. You can also access evidence added in Evisense in Connecting Steps.
If you do not use Connecting Steps, you can still use our FREE assessment content in Evisense. The content is available to all settings who use Connecting Steps or Evisense. For information on what content is available in your country visit the Additional Assessment Frameworks page on the B Squared website –
https://www.bsquared.co.uk/products/connecting-steps/additional-frameworks
Connecting Steps gives you the ability to assess and track progress, you will also have access to your Connecting Steps data within B Squared Analytics where you can do whole school data.
To see what assessment content is available to you, go to the Manage Assessment Content section in My BSquared. This page is split into different sections:
- Frameworks – This is the active content split into the different frameworks/curriculums. You can control options like the age range and which students the framework applies to. Beneath the Frameworks grid is the Default Frameworks button. This is where you set the default path students in your school will follow. For more information on Managing Frameworks, please visit the My BSquared support pages or contact our support team.
- Active Books – This is a list of content you have purchased for your school that you are currently using.
- Available Books – This is a list of content you have purchased for your school that you are NOT currently using. It is split into content linked to current guidance or content linked to older, out of date guidance.
- Active Structures – This is a list of the FREE content you have enabled for your school.
- Available Structures – This is a list of the FREE content available to you that you are NOT currently using. To start using the content, click on the + icon, the content will then move to the Active Structures and appear in the Frameworks grid. It will then be available in Evisense for the students it applies to.
You can only track progress with the assessment content in Evisense if you use Connecting Steps.
Linking Posts to Assessment Content
If you use Connecting Steps, all the assessment content in Connecting Steps will be accessible in Evisense. As you add evidence or other posts, you can link the post to assessment content within Connecting Steps. You can then view that post in Connecting Steps. If you don't use Connecting Steps, you can still link to assessment content so you can filter posts later on. To filter your feed to a specific framework, subject, profile or level, follow the advanced filtering guide here
Assessing in Evisense
If you have linked a post to Assessment Content, when you publish the post, it will ask you if you want to assess. When you do this, you are viewing and updating the student's assessment in Connecting Steps directly from Evisense! See how it works below.
Viewing Evidence in Connecting Steps
Once you have added a post in Evisense that is linked to assessment content in Connecting Steps, you can view the evidence from within Connecting Steps. On various screens you will see an orange camera icon. If the camera icon has a + icon, there is no evidence, if there is a number next to the camera icon, this is how many pieces of evidence there are. On the Individual Assessment screen, there is a camera icon next to each assessment point and a camera icon at the top of the screen. The icon at the top of the screen is a great way to see all the evidence linked to this level.
